Operations Manager – Interior Fit-Out Contractor

Location: Essex / London region 
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Reports To: Managing Director / Senior Management

We are a rapidly growing interior fit-out specialist, accredited by Constructionline Gold and IFC Certification for passive fire systems, stud partitions, timber fire door sets, and more. Role Overview

The Operations Manager will lead the successful delivery of interior fit-out and refurbishment projects, overseeing site teams, quality, safety, and financial performance from award through to handover.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Oversight

  • Oversee multiple live projects across commercial, residential, and public sectors.

  • Coordinate trade packages—drywall, ceilings, glass partitions, joinery—ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery ibuild-interiors.com+2ibuild-interiors.com+2ibuild-interiors.com+2.

  • Monitor site performance, adherence to schedules, and subcontractor coordination.

Quality, Health & Safety

Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor site managers, supervisors, and operatives.

  • Foster a positive team culture and drive continuous performance improvements.

Financial Control

  • Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, and margin control.

  • Report progress and issues promptly to the senior management team.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as primary contact for clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

  • Maintain regular communication, manage expectations, and resolve issues proactively.

Process Improvement

  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement best-practice initiatives.

  • Support the implementation of new systems to streamline processes and improve project delivery.

About the Candidate

Essential Experience & Skills


Desirable Qualifications

  • NEBOSH, SMSTS, or equivalent health & safety qualification.

  • Familiarity with IFC Certification and Constructionline accreditation.

  • Background working on commercial or public-sector fit-out projects (e.g., museums, financial HQs).

  • Highly organised with a proactive problem-solving approach.

  • Strong attention to detail and disciplined in quality control.

  • Confident leading multi-site operations and fostering team development.

  • Flexible and willing to travel to project locations as required.
