Operations Manager – Interior Fit-Out Contractor

Role Overview

The Operations Manager will lead the successful delivery of interior fit-out and refurbishment projects, overseeing site teams, quality, safety, and financial performance from award through to handover.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Oversight

• Oversee multiple live projects across commercial, residential, and public sectors.

• Coordinate trade packages—drywall, ceilings, glass partitions, joinery—ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery ibuild-interiors.com+2ibuild-interiors.com+2ibuild-interiors.com+2.

• Monitor site performance, adherence to schedules, and subcontractor coordination.

Quality, Health & Safety

• Enforce compliance with IFC, FIS, and Constructionline standards ibuild-interiors.com+8ibuild-interiors.com+8ibuild-interiors.com+8.

• Maintain high safety and quality standards through site inspections and audits.

Team Leadership

• Manage and mentor site managers, supervisors, and operatives.

• Foster a positive team culture and drive continuous performance improvements.

Financial Control

• Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, and margin control.

• Report progress and issues promptly to the senior management team.

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Act as primary contact for clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

• Maintain regular communication, manage expectations, and resolve issues proactively.

Process Improvement

• Identify operational inefficiencies and implement best-practice initiatives.

• Support the implementation of new systems to streamline processes and improve project delivery.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Proven 5+ years in operations or project management within interior fit-out, refurbishment, or specialist subcontracting.

• Strong knowledge of UK construction regulations and certifications.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and commercial awareness.

• Proficient in MS Office and project management tools; digital fluency valued.

Desirable Qualifications

• NEBOSH, SMSTS, or equivalent health & safety qualification.

• Familiarity with IFC Certification and Constructionline accreditation.

• Background working on commercial or public-sector fit-out projects (e.g., museums, financial HQs).
