About the Role

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an accomplished Vice President of Construction to provide executive leadership for commercial mechanical construction operations across a growing regional market. This individual will be responsible for driving operational excellence, strengthening client relationships, expanding market presence, and overseeing the successful execution of complex mechanical construction projects.

Reporting directly to executive leadership, the Vice President of Construction will play a key role in shaping long-term business strategy while ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate is a proven mechanical construction executive with extensive leadership experience, strong industry relationships, and a successful track record of growing operations within a competitive commercial construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Leadership

  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to support sustainable growth and expand regional market presence
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, general contractors, engineers, architects, and key industry partners
  • Represent the organization at client meetings, industry events, and professional associations
  • Partner with executive leadership to establish long-term operational and business objectives

Operations Management

  • Provide executive oversight of project management, field operations, fabrication, and construction teams
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards
  • Monitor project portfolios, staffing levels, resource allocation, and operational performance
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives across all construction operations

Financial Leadership

  • Oversee project forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting, and profitability
  • Support contract negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Partner with finance and executive leadership on strategic planning, budgeting, and organizational growth
  • Monitor key performance indicators to drive operational efficiency and financial success

Team Development

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing leaders across project management, field operations, and support functions
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous professional development
  • Support succession planning and leadership development initiatives throughout the organization

About the Candidate

Qualifications

Required:

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within commercial mechanical construction
  • Proven success leading operations for large-scale HVAC, piping, plumbing, or MEP construction projects
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction operations, project delivery, financial management, and contract administration
  • Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and drive business growth within a competitive construction market
  • Experience leading project management, field operations, estimating, and construction teams
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and strategic planning skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with advanced commercial HVAC systems and emerging mechanical technologies
  • Established relationships with commercial construction owners, developers, engineers, architects, and general contractors within the regional market
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Executive leadership experience within a commercial mechanical or MEP contracting organization
