Our client is a well-established, family-owned general contractor with a strong reputation across Virginia and the Carolinas, delivering high-quality commercial construction projects across a range of sectors.

The business is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to join its Newport News team. This is an excellent opportunity for an established construction professional to take ownership of major projects, lead project teams and play an important role in the continued success and growth of the business.

• Lead and oversee all aspects of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through to final closeout.

• Manage project budgets, financial performance, contracts and cost control.

• Work closely with Superintendents, subcontractors, design teams and clients to ensure successful project delivery.

• Develop, maintain and manage project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are achieved.

• Oversee procurement, subcontractor agreements, submittals, RFIs and change order processes.

• Lead regular owner, architect and subcontractor meetings.

• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and implement solutions to keep projects on track.

• Manage and mentor Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and other members of the project team.

• Maintain strong client relationships and act as a key point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.

• Ensure all projects meet company safety, quality and environmental standards.

• Oversee monthly billing, forecasting, financial reporting and project closeout activities.

• Support continuous improvement and the development of project management processes.

• Degree in Construction Management, Building Construction or a related discipline preferred.

• 10+ years of commercial construction experience, with a proven background in Project Management.

• Previous experience managing complex commercial construction projects, ideally valued at $20M+.

• Demonstrable experience overseeing project budgets, contracts, scheduling and financial performance.

• Strong understanding of construction estimating, subcontractor management and contract administration.

• Experience leading and developing project teams.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam and construction scheduling software.

• Familiarity with BIM, Autodesk, COINS and SharePoint would be advantageous.

• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining strong client relationships.
