About the Client

A leading engineering and construction management firm with a growing presence across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic is searching for an experienced Resident Engineer to oversee water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout New York City. With decades of experience behind them and active partnerships with key public agencies, they are driving impactful infrastructure improvements across the region.

About the Role

We’re looking for a seasoned professional who can take ownership of complex projects, deliver technical guidance, ensure safety and compliance, and foster collaboration between contractors, clients, and design teams. This position is based in Staten Island, NY, with project oversight spanning all five boroughs.

  • Lead day-to-day construction oversight for watermain and related infrastructure projects, ensuring work aligns with technical specifications and regulatory standards.

  • Track and assess contractor progress, budget adherence, and schedule milestones to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.

  • Act as the central point of communication between field teams, contractors, and engineering consultants—resolving field issues, reviewing RFIs, and providing guidance on constructability.

  • Review design documents, changes, and shop drawings to confirm feasibility and alignment with project goals.

  • Coordinate payment applications, track progress reports, and suggest adjustments where necessary.

  • Promote and enforce site safety protocols, environmental regulations, and permit compliance.

  • Organize and lead construction meetings, providing updates to clients and stakeholders on progress, issues, and mitigation plans.

  • Ensure strong collaboration with public agencies, utilities, and private property owners as required.

  • Manage project risks proactively, adjusting workflows and strategies as needed to stay within scope.

About the Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a closely aligned discipline.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing construction projects, particularly those ranging from $5M to $100M+ in scale.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

  • Prior experience with NYCDEP projects or standards is strongly preferred.

  • Background in mechanical or electrical systems and familiarity with wastewater treatment facilities is highly desirable.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.

  • Comfortable using platforms like Microsoft Office Suite, MS Teams, SharePoint, eBuilder, and similar construction management tools.
