We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to manage ornamental metal and specialty glass projects throughout New York City.

This is a hands-on position with responsibility for assigned projects from contract award through final closeout. Typical scopes include custom stairs, railings and guardrails, canopies, entrances, feature metalwork, decorative screens and cladding, glass guards, specialty glazing, and related architectural components in steel, stainless steel, aluminum, bronze, brass, and glass.

The Project Manager will coordinate design, engineering, detailing, procurement, fabrication, finishing, delivery, and field installation while managing schedule, quality, safety, scope, cost, and client communication. The role may direct an assigned Assistant Project Manager and works under the oversight of the Director or Senior Project Manager of Ornamental Metal and Glass.

• Manage assigned ornamental metal and specialty glass projects from contract award through turnover and closeout

• Direct and develop assigned Assistant Project Managers; establish priorities, review deliverables, and ensure timely follow-through on project commitments

• Serve as the day-to-day project contact for GCs/CMs, architects, structural engineers, consultants, vendors, subcontractors, and field supervision

• Review contracts and scope requirements, identify exclusions and interface gaps, and develop the project budget, schedule, procurement plan, and execution strategy with senior management

• Manage shop drawings, engineering calculations, delegated design, RFIs, samples, finish samples, material submittals, mockups, and approvals

• Coordinate embeds, plates, anchors, blocking, structure, waterproofing, adjacent finishes, access requirements, and tolerances before fabrication and installation

• Manage field surveys, verified dimensions, templates, layout control, and release dates so fabrication is based on complete and accurate information

• Coordinate internal and external detailing, engineering, fabrication, welding, machining, glass production, specialty finishes, packaging, and delivery

• Manage long-lead and high-risk materials, including custom extrusions, specialty alloys, bent or laminated glass, castings, hardware, anchors, and decorative finishes

• Coordinate with shop and field leadership on constructability, manpower, equipment, access, hoisting, protection, sequencing, installation, and recovery plans

• Monitor fabrication and installation quality for conformance with approved drawings, samples, specified finishes, visual standards, and project tolerances

• Identify, document, price, negotiate, and track changes arising from design revisions, field conditions, schedule impacts, acceleration, and scope growth; obtain senior review when required

• Manage committed costs, labor, purchasing, fabrication progress, billing, cash flow, forecasting, and profitability for assigned projects

• Maintain accurate project records, including meeting minutes, schedules, procurement logs, RFI and submittal logs, change logs, cost reports, and decision documentation

• Identify design, fabrication, finish, access, tolerance, schedule, and installation risks; develop solutions and escalate significant exposure promptly

• Manage punch list completion, attic stock and spare materials, warranties, maintenance data, as-built documentation, final billing, and closeout

• Minimum five years of relevant construction project management experience, including direct responsibility for ornamental metal, miscellaneous metals, specialty glass, or comparable custom architectural work

• Demonstrated experience with custom stairs, railings and guards, canopies, entrances, feature metalwork, decorative cladding or screens, glass guards, and related architectural assemblies

• Working knowledge of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, bronze, brass, glass, architectural hardware, anchors, fasteners, welding, fabrication, and field installation methods

• Practical understanding of finish requirements and appearance control for painted, galvanized, anodized, polished, brushed, patinated, plated, and other specialty finishes

• Ability to read and coordinate architectural, structural, and shop drawings; specifications; contracts; schedules; and approved samples or mockups

• Experience coordinating delegated design and engineering, including loading criteria, attachment concepts, structural interfaces, and required calculations or professional seals

• Strong understanding of field verification, dimensional control, tolerances, embeds and anchors, substrate conditions, adjacent-trade interfaces, and installation sequencing

• Experience managing fabrication and installation schedules, long-lead procurement, logistics, and quality control

• Working knowledge of project financials, forecasting, purchasing, change orders, cost control, billing, and profitability

• Experience directing Assistant Project Managers or Project Coordinators and coordinating effectively with detailing, shop, vendor, and field teams

• Strong communication, organization, negotiation, leadership, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work between the office, fabrication facilities, and active New York City construction sites
