About the Client

My client is a leading commercial glazing and façade contractor operating throughout New York City and the surrounding metro area. They deliver complex exterior envelope projects across multifamily, healthcare, education, hospitality, office, and mixed-use sectors and have built a strong reputation for technical excellence, collaboration, and execution on challenging schedules.

They are actively seeking an experienced Pre-Construction Manager to play a key leadership role within their preconstruction and business development team.

This is a highly client-facing position focused on driving bid success through relationship management, strategic positioning, scope alignment, and overall pursuit leadership during the pre-construction phase. The role works closely alongside an internal estimating team but is not responsible for producing estimates directly. Instead, this individual will own the client relationships, lead level meetings, manage the overall bid strategy, and help convert opportunities into awarded work.

The ideal candidate will have strong NYC market relationships with General Contractors, Construction Managers, and ownership groups, along with a proven background within glazing, curtainwall, façades, or commercial envelope construction.

About the Role

  • Manage GC, CM, and owner relationships throughout the full bid lifecycle from invitation through award
  • Lead scope review and level meetings while representing the company professionally and strategically
  • Partner closely with estimators to develop competitive and defensible bid strategies
  • Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and risk items early within the pursuit process
  • Prepare and present qualifications packages, value engineering proposals, and bid narratives
  • Maintain visibility of active pursuits and communicate updates to leadership
  • Expand relationships with key GC and CM teams throughout the NYC market
  • Support the transition from awarded projects into operations and project kickoff
  • Help improve overall close rates and awarded revenue performance

About the Candidate

  • 10+ years of experience within pre-construction, business development, estimating, or operations leadership in commercial construction
  • Strong experience within glazing, curtainwall, façades, or building envelope systems strongly preferred
  • Proven success winning work within the NYC commercial construction market
  • Existing relationships with major NYC GC/CM firms is highly valuable
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to lead high-level client discussions and scope reviews
  • Solid technical understanding of commercial construction scope, sequencing, and contracts
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to work closely alongside estimating and operations teams
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple pursuits simultaneously
