A leading general contractor is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to lead estimating and preconstruction activities across a range of commercial and industrial projects.

The role will oversee estimates from initial budgeting through final bid or GMP submission, ensuring cost accuracy, identifying project risks, developing procurement strategies, and supporting successful project pursuits.

Working closely with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal operations, the successful candidate will play a key role in project planning, commercial performance, and business growth.

• Lead multiple preconstruction and estimating projects from concept through final bid submission.

• Prepare and review conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, quantity take-offs, and cost plans.

• Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify scope gaps, risks, and cost exposures.

• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure accuracy and competitiveness.

• Lead value engineering, constructability reviews, procurement planning, and cost optimisation.

• Support project scheduling, phasing, logistics, and long-lead procurement strategies.

• Develop strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

• Participate in client presentations, project interviews, and business development initiatives.

• Coordinate project handovers with operations and project management teams.

• Mentor Estimators and support the development of the wider preconstruction team.

• Improve estimating processes, systems, and departmental efficiency.

• Proven commercial or industrial construction estimating experience.

• Demonstrated ability to lead estimates and manage preconstruction activities.

• Experience managing multiple projects, deadlines, and competing priorities.

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, building systems, and cost drivers.

• Experience with conceptual estimating, budget development, procurement, and value engineering.

• Proficiency in Destini Estimating or equivalent estimating software.

• Strong working knowledge of Excel, Bluebeam, and construction documentation.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent scheduling software.

• Excellent analytical, communication, organisational, and presentation skills.

• Field construction experience preferred.

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered.
