Position Title: Mechanical Design Engineer (Professional Engineer)

Reports To: Engineering Manager / Director of Mechanical Engineering
Position Overview
The Mechanical Design Engineer (PE) is responsible for leading mechanical engineering design for building systems and industrial projects. This role requires a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida (or ability to obtain within a defined period). The engineer will develop mechanical system designs, perform load calculations, prepare construction documents, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions for commercial, industrial, institutional, and municipal clients.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Work

Lead design of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for new construction and renovation projects.

Perform engineering calculations including load calculations, psychrometrics, duct sizing, pump sizing, and equipment selection.

Produce detailed engineering drawings and specifications (AutoCAD/Revit preferred).

Review and seal engineering documents as a Florida Professional Engineer.

Conduct field investigations, site surveys, and system evaluations.

Ensure compliance with Florida Building Code, ASHRAE, NFPA, IECC, and other relevant standards.
Project Management

Manage mechanical design tasks within project scope, schedule, and budget.

Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, contractors, and clients.

Prepare engineering reports, basis-of-design documents, and technical memoranda.

Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and construction administration.
Construction Support

Review submittals/shop drawings and respond to RFIs.

Conduct site inspections and punch-list evaluations.

Provide technical clarifications and support to contractors during construction.
