About the Client

Our client is an established specialist within the HVAC/R and refrigerant services industry, supporting commercial and industrial customers across the United States.

The business provides specialist field services including HVAC/R maintenance, refrigerant recovery, chiller servicing, system retrofits and large-scale refrigerant projects. They have a strong focus on safety, technical development and environmental responsibility, with ongoing investment in training and clear opportunities for technicians to progress into senior and leadership positions.

Due to continued growth across their U.S. field service operation, they are looking to add an experienced Service Technician II to the team.

About the Role

As a Service Technician II, you will operate as an intermediate-level field technician responsible for independently completing HVAC/R service and refrigerant recovery work across customer sites.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Completing preventative maintenance, refrigerant recovery and standard HVAC/R repairs
  • Diagnosing faults across chillers, refrigeration equipment, compressors, valves and control systems
  • Identifying refrigerant leaks and completing appropriate repairs or temporary solutions
  • Supporting complex chiller retrofits, refrigerant conversions and decontamination projects
  • Pulling vacuums, charging refrigerant, flushing oil and replacing filters
  • Coordinating tools, materials and refrigerant requirements for field assignments
  • Acting as the on-site lead on smaller service assignments when required
  • Mentoring and supporting junior Service Technicians
  • Communicating directly with customers regarding work completed and issues identified
  • Completing accurate digital service reports and technical documentation

The position involves significant field travel, with approximately 80% regional travel and 20% national travel, including regular overnight stays. Travel accommodation is provided, and technicians should be comfortable responding to urgent service requirements and working overtime where necessary.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HVAC/R technician looking to develop specialist chiller and refrigerant expertise while progressing toward senior technician and field leadership positions.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of hands-on HVAC/R field service experience and be comfortable completing service calls with limited supervision.

You should have:
  • 1–3 years of HVAC/R service experience
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification
  • OSHA 10 or equivalent safety training
  • Experience with industrial chillers, refrigeration systems and refrigerant recovery equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and basic electrical/control systems
  • Ability to use pressure gauges, multimeters, vacuum pumps and recovery equipment
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, equipment manuals and technical documentation
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet DOT requirements
  • Strong customer communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to support and mentor junior technicians
  • Flexibility to travel extensively and work overtime when required

Technical/trade school education, OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, manufacturer training from companies such as Carrier, Trane or Daikin, large-tonnage chiller experience and specialty refrigerant experience would all be advantageous.

Candidates must also be comfortable working in physically demanding field environments, including lifting up to 100 lbs., climbing ladders, working at heights, accessing confined spaces and working in varying weather conditions.
