The day-to-day is a blend of field diagnostics and regulatory compliance.
-
Testing & Inspection:
Conduct functional testing of fire alarm components, including smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, and notification appliances (horns/strobes).
-
System Diagnostics:
Use multimeters and specialized tools to troubleshoot ground faults, short circuits, and communication errors within the fire alarm control panel (FACP).
-
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all systems meet NFPA 72(National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) standards, as well as state and local building codes.

Experience with major brands like Notifier, Simplex, EST, or Silent Knight.
-
Physical Agility:
You’ll be on ladders, in crawl spaces, and on your feet for 8+ hours
