About the Client
Are you an experienced and proactive Design Engineer looking for a challenging role with opportunities for career progression? We are seeking a talented individual to join our team, contributing to exciting projects primarily within the M25 belt.
About the Role
- Produce detailed cladding construction drawings, elevation and plan drawings (even from non-vectorized sources), and accurate panel and sub-grid setting out drawings.
- Apply a strong understanding of common cladding materials (panels, insulation, membranes), fire barriers, and various fixing types.
- Utilize AutoCAD effectively, demonstrating mastery of scaling, line types, text, blocks, groups, gridlines, floor levels, detail markers, layering, and dimensioning. You should also be adept at producing PDFs/prints with different color settings.
- Visualize items in 3D to create different views, draw from photos and surveys, and gather relevant information from tools like Google Maps for existing building envelopes.
- Prioritize tasks under pressure and efficiently design and manage two or more projects simultaneously.
- Liaise with commercial departments for material orders, suppliers for specifications, structural engineers, consultants, architects, and site teams to obtain inspections, photos, and dimensions.
- Maintain a cloud database of recent drawings and technical information, upload new and amended drawings, issue Technical Submissions, and manage RFI processes.
- Engage in continuous professional development (CPDs) with suppliers.
About the Candidate
- Education: Engineering or Architecture-related studies are preferred. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a university degree.
- Experience:
- Intermediate Designer: 3-5 years of experience with the potential to progress to a Senior Designer role.
- Senior Designer: 5+ years of experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, PDF software, and Microsoft Office/Outlook is essential.
- Experience with 3D AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or Bluebeam is a plus.
- Location: Must reside in the UK within a commutable distance to North Greenwich due to regular site visits.
- Driving License: Preferred.
- Language: Fluent in verbal and written English.
- Portfolio: Must present a PDF portfolio of sample drawings.
- Right to Work: Must have the right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available).
- Attributes: Proactive, problem-solving attitude, and the ability to hand-sketch technical drawings are highly valued. A good understanding of U-values for external walls and familiarity with fabrication drawings are also important.
