About the Client

A well-established, Houston-based electrical contractor with over 30 years in business. They’ve completed more than 3,500 projects across commercial, industrial, institutional and data-center work.

They handle full-scope electrical services — from design/build and commercial construction to high-voltage systems, substations, maintenance, and code-compliant installations.

They emphasize safety, quality, and reliability — known for solid craftsmanship and complex projects rather than cookie-cutter work.

About the Role

  • Several years of experience in electrical estimating or related electrical/construction experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, labor cost structures, and relevant code/standards.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (or willingness to learn), spreadsheets, and other standard office tools.
  • Detail oriented, analytical mindset, good organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable handling multiple bids/projects under deadlines, with ability to manage time effectively.

About the Candidate

  • Review project plans, blueprints, specifications and bid documents to scope electrical work.
  • Perform quantity take-offs (conduit, wiring, lighting, power distribution, low-voltage systems, etc.).
  • Build detailed cost estimates — materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, overhead, and contingencies.
  • Solicit vendor/subcontractor quotes; gather supplier pricing; negotiate where needed.
  • Prepare and submit bid proposals, including scope definitions, cost breakdowns, and value-engineering options.
  • Conduct site visits or job-walks when required to verify site conditions and project requirements.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, historical estimates, material and labor unit pricing for future bids.
  • Support change-order estimates, re-estimates, and project cost review when scope changes occur.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure estimates align with project requirements and code standards.
