About the Role
- My client is seeking a dynamic and visionary Design Director to lead our Workplace Interiors Studio in Houston, Texas. This is a high-impact leadership role for a seasoned professional with a passion for innovative workplace design, strategic thinking, and cultivating client relationships.
- The ideal candidate will bring 10–15 years of experience in corporate interior design and workplace strategy, with a proven track record in design leadership, business development, and active engagement in the Houston design and real estate community. As a leader in our studio, this individual will help drive design excellence, mentor our team, and play a key role in growing our practice through networking, thought leadership, and strategic client engagement
- Provide creative and strategic leadership across workplace interior projects, setting a high standard for design excellence
- Lead major projects from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with client goals and firm vision
- Partner with firm leadership to develop new business, build client relationships, and expand market presence
- Actively participate in Houston’s design, architecture, and commercial real estate networks to identify opportunities and represent in the community
- Mentor and guide design teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Contribute to firm-wide strategic planning and thought leadership initiatives within the Interiors Studio and broader practice
- Collaborate with marketing and business development teams on proposals, presentations, and strategic pursuits
About the Candidate
- Professional degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in corporate interiors and workplace environments
- Licensed to practice Interior Design or Architecture; architectural licensure preferred
- Proven experience in design leadership and business development, including client cultivation and project acquisition
- Strong portfolio showcasing innovative workplace projects and strategic design thinking
- Active involvement in Houston’s A&D, CRE, or business networks such as AIA, IIDA, CoreNet, or ULI
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
