About the Client

Our client is a well-established electrical contractor with over 40 years of experience delivering electrical construction, security systems, structured cabling, and design-build solutions across the commercial construction market. Backed by the resources of a national platform while maintaining the agility of a local contractor, they have built a strong reputation for safety, quality, customer service, and long-term client relationships.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Vice President of Operations to provide executive leadership across multiple business units and drive operational performance, project delivery, and strategic expansion.

About the Role

As Vice President of Operations, you will lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of a growing commercial electrical construction business. You will be responsible for project execution, operational performance, financial results, workforce development, customer satisfaction, and overall business growth.

Working closely with project teams, customers, and senior leadership, you will drive operational excellence while maintaining a hands-on leadership approach across all areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead operational delivery across electrical, security, and structured cabling projects
Drive project performance, profitability, and operational efficiency
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, developers, general contractors, and industry partners
Oversee project management, estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning
Monitor project schedules, financial performance, backlog, and workforce utilization
Champion safety, quality, and compliance across all operations
Recruit, mentor, and develop operational leaders and project teams
Support strategic growth initiatives and business expansion opportunities
Review operational processes and implement continuous improvement strategies
Report operational performance to executive leadership and stakeholders

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an experienced construction executive with a strong background in commercial electrical contracting and a proven track record leading large operational teams.

Requirements:

10+ years of leadership experience within commercial electrical construction
Experience managing multiple projects, teams, and operational functions simultaneously
Strong knowledge of project management, estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and labor planning
Proven ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships
Experience leading field operations, project teams, and operational departments
Strong understanding of NEC requirements, OSHA regulations, and construction safety standards
Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational involvement
Experience with design-build project delivery preferred
Experience within low voltage, security systems, or structured cabling environments is highly desirable
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
OSHA 30 certification preferred
