About the Client
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Traveling Construction Superintendent with a specialized focus on healthcare projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities for healthcare facilities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while strictly adhering to all applicable regulations, particularly those set forth by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).
This role requires extensive travel throughout Central and West Florida.
About the Role
- Project Leadership & Management:
- Lead, manage, and supervise all on-site construction activities from project inception through closeout, including mobilization, construction, and commissioning.
- Develop, implement, and manage project schedules in conjunction with the Project Manager, identifying and addressing potential delays proactively.
- Coordinate and manage all subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site personnel, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project plans and specifications.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality of workmanship, and compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Prepare and submit daily reports, progress reports, logs, and other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Manage material and equipment needs, ensuring timely delivery and proper utilization.
- Participate in project review meetings, including OAC (Owner, Architect, Contractor) meetings, and effectively communicate project status, issues, and solutions to all stakeholders.
- Assist the Project Manager with cost control, tracking project budgets, and identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Support project closeout activities, including pre-punch lists and coordinating with the owner, architect, and governing authorities.
- Healthcare Compliance & Safety:
- Crucially, ensure rigorous compliance with all AHCA (Agency for Health Care Administration) regulations and guidelines throughout all phases of healthcare construction projects.
- Implement and enforce strict Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) standards and procedures.
- Champion a strong safety culture on-site, ensuring adherence to OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Conduct regular safety inspections, investigate incidents, and provide necessary safety training.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of specialized healthcare facility requirements, including critical systems, patient flow, and environmental controls.
- Communication & Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Foster positive working relationships with all parties involved, including local building code enforcement and inspectors.
- Effectively communicate project changes, potential issues, and solutions to the project team and relevant parties.
- Team Development:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to on-site construction workers and subcontractors, ensuring a high level of competence and compliance.
- Participate in the identification and recruitment of top talent for field operations.
About the Candidate
Qualifications:

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, with a significant portion dedicated to healthcare construction projects.

Demonstrated, verifiable experience with AHCA (Agency for Health Care Administration) regulations and successful project completion under AHCA oversight is mandatory.

Proven experience with Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) standards.

Ability to travel extensively across Central and West Florida (up to 100% travel may be required).

Strong knowledge of construction processes, means and methods, equipment, and building codes.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents, blueprints, and specifications.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a keen eye for detail.

Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid) and Microsoft Office Suite.

OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent experience.

Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
