Reports To: Project Manager / Director of Field Operations
Department: Field Operations
Location: Project Jobsite / Regional Travel as Needed
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Position Summary

A growing commercial contractor is seeking an experienced and driven Superintendent to oversee the execution of drywall scopes on commercial and multifamily construction projects. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day field operations, coordinating trades and schedules, and ensuring quality and safety standards are upheld. The ideal candidate has a strong background in drywall systems, effective leadership skills, and a results-driven mindset.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight

    • Supervise all field activities related to drywall installation across assigned projects.

    • Ensure work aligns with project documents, plans, and specifications.

    • Manage subcontractors and in-house labor to maintain project pace and quality.

  • Scheduling & Coordination

    • Develop and maintain look-ahead schedules in collaboration with project managers.

    • Coordinate deliveries and workflow with other trades to minimize downtime.

    • Lead daily site meetings and subcontractor coordination efforts.

    • Quality Assurance

      • Perform routine inspections to verify adherence to drywall installation standards.

      • Proactively resolve field conflicts and deficiencies before they escalate.

      • Safety Management

        • Enforce strict compliance with safety protocols and OSHA regulations.

        • Conduct regular safety briefings, site inspections, and incident investigations.

        • Team Leadership

          • Mentor assistant superintendents, foremen, and field staff.

          • Promote a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and jobsite efficiency.

          • Provide feedback and assist in workforce planning.

          • Reporting & Documentation

            • Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, and field documentation.

            • Track labor hours, material usage, and schedule performance.

            • Communicate consistently with project managers on field status.

            • About the Candidate

              Qualifications

              • Experience:
                • Minimum 5 years in drywall field supervision, preferably with commercial or multifamily experience.

                • Demonstrated success managing drywall scopes from rough-in to finish.

              • Education:
                • High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training or degree preferred.

                • Skills & Knowledge:
                  • Strong understanding of drywall systems, including framing, hanging, and finishing.

                  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction documents, and schedules.

                  • Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid) and MS Office.

                  • Certifications:
                    • OSHA 30 required (or must be obtained within 30 days of hire).

                    • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

                    • Leadership Qualities:
                      • Effective communicator with strong team management and problem-solving skills.

                      • High attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.


                        Working Conditions

                        • Field-based role with exposure to typical construction site conditions.

                        • May require standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

                        • Flexibility to work weekends, nights, or extended hours as project needs dictate.
