Senior Estimator

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator with strong technical knowledge and field experience in unitized curtain wall and façade systems. This role is responsible for leading the full estimating process on complex building envelope packages, ensuring accurate pricing, constructability review, and alignment between design intent and field execution.

The ideal candidate combines deep façade system knowledge with real-world installation experience, allowing them to build estimates that reflect how projects are actually built in the field.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 7–15+ years of experience in façade, glazing, or curtain wall estimating/engineering
• Strong technical and practical understanding of how façade systems are built
• Comfortable working between estimating, engineering, and field operations teams
• Detail-oriented with strong commercial awareness
• Confident communicator able to explain scope, risk, and pricing assumptions clearly
• Able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven tender environment

Key Responsibilities

• Lead estimating for unitized curtain wall, stick systems, storefronts, and façade packages
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs from architectural and structural drawings
• Review bid documents, specifications, and drawings to define scope and identify risks
• Collaborate with engineering teams on system design, fabrication methods, and buildability
• Work closely with field teams to validate installation sequencing, logistics, and productivity rates
• Develop full cost breakdowns including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
• Obtain and evaluate vendor/fabricator pricing for façade systems and components
• Conduct value engineering exercises to improve cost efficiency while maintaining performance standards
• Support bid submissions, clarifications, and post-tender negotiations
• Assist in handover to project management and operations teams following award

Technical Requirements

• Extensive experience with unitized curtain wall systems (essential)
• Strong knowledge of façade systems including:
  • Curtain wall (unitized and stick-built)
  • Aluminum framing systems
  • Glazing assemblies
  • Anchors, embeds, and structural interfaces
• Ability to read and interpret complex architectural, structural, and shop drawings
• Understanding of fabrication and installation sequencing
• Experience with high-rise or complex commercial/residential envelope projects
• Familiarity with urban construction environments (e.g., logistics, access constraints) is a plus

Field Experience Requirements

• Background in field roles such as installer, field engineer, superintendent, or project engineer preferred
• Strong understanding of:
  • On-site installation processes and sequencing
  • Crane/hoist operations and material handling logistics
  • Interface between façade systems and structural conditions
• Ability to translate field conditions into estimating assumptions (labour productivity, access, risk)
