About the Role

Estimate Preparation: Lead the preparation of detailed, accurate, and timely estimates for all stages of hospitality projects (conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents) for both competitive bids and negotiated projects.

Cost Analysis & Value Engineering: Conduct thorough cost analysis, identify value engineering opportunities, and provide innovative solutions to optimize project costs without compromising quality or design intent.

Bid Management: Manage the entire bidding process, including subcontractor outreach, bid package development, scope review, qualification, and leveling of subcontractor proposals.

Market Research & Data Analysis: Continuously research and stay abreast of current market conditions, material costs, labor rates, and construction trends specific to the hospitality sector to ensure estimates are realistic and competitive.

Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and opportunities associated with each project and integrate appropriate contingencies into estimates.

Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with internal teams (Project Managers, Superintendents, Business Development, Design/Pre-construction Managers) and external stakeholders (clients, architects, consultants, subcontractors).

Client Interaction: Participate in client presentations, clearly articulating the basis of estimates and responding to client inquiries.

Subcontractor Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with a network of qualified subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring a robust and reliable bidding pool.

Mentorship & Leadership: Potentially mentor and guide junior estimators, contributing to the development of the estimating team.

Software Proficiency: Utilize estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Procore, Timberline/Sage Estimating, etc.) and other relevant tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and best practices.
About the Candidate

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in estimating for a general contractor, with a significant portion dedicated to hospitality construction projects.

Proven track record of successfully estimating and securing projects ranging from upwards of $10m in value.

In-depth knowledge of construction means and methods, building codes, and industry standards relevant to hospitality.

Expertise in reading and interpreting architectural drawings, specifications, and project manuals.

Advanced proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized with a commitment to accuracy.

Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as required.
