About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Drywall Estimator to lead the estimating function for commercial drywall and specialty interior systems. This role will play a critical part in shaping competitive, accurate bids while collaborating closely with project management, operations, and leadership to support profitable project acquisition and execution.
 

  • Lead the development of comprehensive cost estimates for commercial drywall, metal-framed assemblies, acoustical ceilings, and related specialty scopes.

  • Review project plans, specifications, and scopes of work to identify requirements, exclusions, risks, and opportunities.

  • Perform detailed takeoffs of material quantities and labor requirements using industry-standard estimating tools/software.

  • Prepare complete bid packages, including proposals, pricing sheets, scopes of work, and support documentation.

  • Collaborate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes and verify pricing assumptions.

  • Work with project managers and leadership to align estimates with scheduling, logistics, constructability, and risk management.

  • Mentor and support junior estimators and coordinate estimating workflows to ensure timely submissions.

  • Maintain and update historical cost databases, pricing standards, and estimating benchmarks.

  • Present and justify estimates to internal stakeholders and participate in pre-bid and post-bid review sessions.

About the Candidate

  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial drywall and interior finishing construction (or related sectors).

  • Strong knowledge of drywall systems, metal framing, acoustical ceiling systems, and commercial construction documentation.

  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, Quick Bid, Timberline, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills — with the ability to work under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction plans, specifications, and contractual documents.

  • Proven ability to lead complex bid efforts from start to finish with minimal supervision.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience with BIM/VDC and design assist pre-construction processes.

  • Strong vendor and subcontractor network within the commercial construction market.

  • Prior experience mentoring or supervising junior estimating staff.
