Our client is a leading organisation within the mission critical construction and commissioning sector, supporting the delivery of complex infrastructure projects across the United States. With a strong pipeline of work and a reputation for technical excellence, they are seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Project Manager to join a flagship project in California.

About the Role

As the Senior Commissioning Project Manager, you will serve as the Owner's Representative throughout the commissioning lifecycle, ensuring all building systems are installed, tested, and handed over in accordance with project requirements and operational expectations.

Working closely with design consultants, contractors, vendors, and client stakeholders, you will provide leadership across commissioning activities while maintaining visibility over project risks, schedules, quality standards, and system readiness.

You will be responsible for:

Leading commissioning and start-up activities across critical MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, low voltage, controls, and building automation systems, while overseeing FATs, integrated systems testing, and final turnover activities.
Managing commissioning documentation, supporting QA/QC initiatives, coordinating with project teams to achieve key milestones, and proactively identifying and mitigating risks to ensure successful project delivery.

Project Information:

Long-term assignment with an anticipated duration of 24–36 months onsite in San Jose, California.
Future opportunities available upon completion, with additional projects across the local market and nationwide.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commissioning management, MEP systems, and mission critical project delivery, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex project phases.

You will have:

5+ years of experience in commissioning, MEP coordination, or project management, ideally within data centers, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial, or other mission critical environments.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to represent the Owner's interests, drive accountability, and proactively resolve issues before they impact project performance.

Preferred Experience:

Previous experience working on data center commissioning projects or large-scale mission critical facilities.
Strong understanding of QA/QC processes, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and turnover procedures.
Familiarity with VDC platforms, commissioning software, and project workflow management tools.
