Main Duties & Responsibilities
- In addition to the functions detailed below, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required
- Attend site meetings as necessary.
- Analyse tender documentation, including drawings and technical specifications, to prepare accurate estimates.
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to discuss estimates and resolve any queries.
- Communicate effectively with potential clients, colleagues, and suppliers to arrange site visits and measurements.
- Travel to various job sites around the Bristol area to gather essential information on material needs, labour requirements, and other relevant factors.
- Identify and quantify all cost factors, including production time, raw materials, equipment, and labour expenses.
- Analyse quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
- Prepare and submit tenders and quotations in a timely manner.
- Provide a clear and concise handover of successful projects to the construction team.
- Obtain quotations from third-party providers such as scaffolders, builders, and M&E contractors.
- Develop Programmes of Work.
- Price all Variation Orders (VOs).
- Update accounts promptly as and when VOs are instructed.
- Provide support to the Procurement department and assist with any related enquiries.
- Prepare information for Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQs) and submit them to clients.
- Present departmental updates during Planning Meetings on a periodic basis.
- As part of this role, travel to a regional office may be required on occasion, in addition to site visits and surveys across the Bristol area.
About the Candidate
- Proven experience in managing projects within the construction or a related industry.
- Strong working knowledge of surveying, estimating, contract conditions, relevant regulations, programme and risk management, and cost control.
- A full UK Driving License is essential.
- Demonstrable previous experience in surveying and estimating.
- Ability to effectively prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in IT systems and software relevant to the role.
- While not essential, possession of the following qualifications/certificates would be advantageous: SMSTS, CSCS Card, 1st Aid at Work, Working at height, Hot Works, CISRS Scaffold Inspection, FASET Netting Inspection, and Asbestos Awareness. Training for these may be provided.
