Quantity Surveyor – Construction

Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 + Bonus & Benefits

A well-established specialist construction contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Central London.

This is an immediate requirement for a strong commercial professional who can take ownership of projects, manage subcontract packages and provide effective commercial control from procurement through to final account.

The business has a strong pipeline of work across the commercial, residential and healthcare sectors, with a £6m healthcare project currently underway that has the potential to grow to approximately £12m.

This is an excellent opportunity for a QS looking for a role with genuine responsibility, varied project exposure and the opportunity to play an important part within a growing commercial team.

Key Responsibilities

• Commercial management of live construction projects
• Managing subcontractor packages from procurement through to final account
• Preparing and reviewing valuations, variations and applications for payment
• Cost reporting, forecasting and commercial reporting
• Managing change and identifying commercial opportunities and risks
• Subcontractor procurement and negotiation
• Reviewing and agreeing final accounts
• Working closely with Project Managers, site teams, clients and subcontractors
• Maintaining accurate project cost control throughout the lifecycle of the project
• Supporting the wider commercial team across multiple projects where required

Package

• £65,000 – £75,000 salary
• Annual bonus equivalent to one month's salary

The Opportunity

This is a role for a good, commercially strong QS who wants to take ownership of meaningful projects rather than simply manage a small section of a larger commercial team.

With a substantial healthcare project already underway and further commercial work in the pipeline, there is plenty of opportunity for the successful QS to make an impact from day one.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a construction contractor/subcontractor background who is comfortable managing projects commercially and working independently.

You should have:

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction
• Strong subcontract and package management experience
• Experience with commercial/cost reporting, variations and final accounts
• Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to take ownership of projects and work to deadlines
• Experience across commercial, healthcare, residential or specialist construction would be advantageous
