My client is a leading commercial concrete contractor specializing in large-scale concrete packages for high-rise buildings. With a commitment to quality, safety, and innovation, we have established a strong reputation in the industry.

The Purchaser will be responsible for the strategic sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of all materials, equipment, and services essential for our structural concrete projects in the Fort Lauderdale area. This role requires a keen understanding of concrete construction needs, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to manage vendor relationships effectively to ensure timely delivery, competitive pricing, and quality compliance. The Purchaser will play a critical role in supporting project profitability and operational efficiency.

Sourcing & Vendor Management:

• Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers and subcontractors for concrete, rebar, formwork, aggregates, admixtures, concrete pumping services, and other related materials and services.

• Maintain and nurture strong relationships with existing vendors, ensuring consistent quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.

• Develop a robust network of local Fort Lauderdale and South Florida suppliers to support project demands.

Negotiation & Procurement:

• Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and Purchase Orders (POs) based on project specifications, budgets, and schedules.

• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve optimal cost savings and value.

• Manage and track purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and resolving any discrepancies or delays.

• Oversee the procurement of critical items such as specialized concrete mixes, reinforcing steel (rebar), post-tensioning materials, and complex formwork systems.

Cost Control & Efficiency:

• Analyze market trends and pricing for concrete materials and services to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

• Work closely with Project Managers and Estimators to understand project requirements and procure materials efficiently.

• Monitor inventory levels of frequently used materials and coordinate logistics to prevent project delays.

Documentation & Compliance:

• Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor contracts, and price lists.

• Ensure all purchases comply with company policies, safety standards, and project specifications.

• Assist in the resolution of invoicing discrepancies and supplier performance issues.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Collaborate effectively with Project Management, Estimating, and Site Operations teams to anticipate material needs and delivery schedules.

• Provide regular updates on material availability, pricing fluctuations, and potential supply chain challenges.

• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within the construction or heavy civil industry.

• Specific experience with concrete, rebar, or formwork procurement is a significant advantage.

• Familiarity with the Fort Lauderdale / South Florida construction market and local suppliers is highly desirable.
