Overview

A well-established, privately-owned contractor is looking for a driven Project Manager with a background in groundworks and civil engineering. This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role in delivering fast-paced residential and commercial developments across the Midlands and Southern England.
 

 

 

About the Role

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing groundwork, infrastructure, or civil engineering projects.

  • Strong technical understanding of bulk earthworks, deep drainage, foundations, roads, and utilities.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders on active residential or commercial construction sites.

  • Solid working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation (e.g., RAMS, SSSTS/SMSTS, LOLER).

  • Experience with setting out, interpreting drawings, and managing technical queries (TQ/RFI process).

  • Familiarity with NEC or JCT contracts is beneficial.

  • Competent in MS Office, project planning tools (e.g., MS Project), and digital site reporting tools.

  • CSCS (Managers), SMSTS, and First Aid certifications (required).

  • Full UK driving licence.

About the Candidate

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage groundwork and infrastructure projects from pre-start through to final handover.

  • Liaise with clients, developers, local authorities, consultants, and internal teams to ensure smooth delivery.

  • Coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet programme, quality, and safety requirements.

  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and resource allocations, addressing risks and delays proactively.

  • Ensure all works are carried out in line with design specifications, technical drawings, and industry standards.

  • Carry out regular site inspections, chair progress meetings, and prepare reports for senior management.

  • Champion a culture of safety, efficiency, and accountability on-site.

  • Oversee materials ordering, temporary works, setting out coordination, and value engineering solutions.
