Role Purpose

You will lead internal drywall & interior systems projects from pre-construction through close-out. You’ll manage the process of turning design & specifications into premium interior finishes (drywall, plaster, carpentry, lath, acoustics, etc.), ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, safely, to exacting quality standards. You’ll interface with clients, GCs, architects, and internal teams, ensuring even complex technical and aesthetic requirements are fulfilled.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and deliver interior construction projects (drywall, partitions, lath, acoustics, ceiling work, plaster, carpentry) in NYC / Tri-State, from pre-construction through to final handover.

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, cost estimates, budgets; monitor performance vs. plan and adjust to keep projects on track.

  • Coordinate and liaise with clients, general contractors/construction managers, architects & consultants to align on scope, specifications, changes, finishes, quality.

  • Source and manage subcontractors & suppliers; ensure material quality, timely delivery; maintain cost control.

  • Enforce and monitor safety, building codes, company quality standards; ensure job sites comply with all regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee field operations: supervising on-site staff, quality control inspections, resolving technical issues, and ensuring workmanship meets high aesthetic and functional standards.

  • Lead the close-out process: punch lists, client walkthroughs, final inspections, as-built drawings, resolving defects.

  • Proactive risk management: identify risks (cost, schedule, technical), propose mitigation, escalate appropriately.

  • Report regularly to senior leadership: progress, financial status, issues, change orders.

About the Candidate

Required Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-8 years of project management experience in high-end drywall / interior / fit-out work in NYC or similar markets.

  • Strong understanding of drywall systems, acoustical ceilings/lath, plastering, carpentry & finish carpentry, custom interior finishes.

  • Experience working with architectural drawings, specifications, details, finishes. Strong technical skills.

  • Commercial acumen: able to manage budgets, change orders, cost tracking, procurement.

  • Excellent leadership & communication skills; ability to lead site teams, coordinate many stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of local building codes, safety, NYC construction norms & union/non-union environments as relevant.

  • Valid US driver’s license; willingness & ability to travel to job sites throughout NYC / Tri-State.

  • Education: Bachelors in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent / relevant certifications preferred.


Desirable Attributes

  • Previous experience with high-profile client finish and interior work (law firms, hotels, media, fashion, etc.).

  • Experience with value engineering and costing to balance cost vs quality and design.

  • Strong attention to detail and aesthetic sensibility.

  • Familiarity with project management software (Procore, Microsoft Project, etc.).

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment; resilient, hands-on as needed.
