A leading specialty contractor focused on walls, ceilings, and interior/exterior systems is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join its Orlando team. This contractor has built a strong reputation across the Southeast for delivering complex wall and ceiling systems, including drywall, EIFS, acoustical ceilings, and themed finishes on large-scale commercial projects.
They emphasize quality, teamwork, and long-term client relationships, with projects ranging from resorts to healthcare facilities.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers in the delivery of multiple construction projects
  • Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and internal field teams
  • Help manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Track project schedules and support progress reporting
  • Attend project meetings and maintain clear communication with stakeholders
  • Assist with procurement and material tracking
  • Conduct site visits to ensure alignment between field and office operations

About the Candidate

Requirements

  • 1–4 years’ experience in construction (project engineering, APM, or similar)
  • Exposure to drywall, metal framing, ceilings, or building envelope scopes preferred
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
  • Basic understanding of project financials and scheduling
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Procore or similar is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience working with subcontractors or specialty trades
  • Familiarity with commercial, healthcare, hospitality, or themed construction projects
  • Interest in progressing into a full Project Manager role
