About the Client

My client is a leading commercial concrete contractor with a reputation for delivering high-quality, complex concrete structures on time and within budget.

They are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Engineer to join our growing team.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in commercial concrete construction, demonstrating proficiency in project planning, execution, and closeout.

About the Role

  • Project Planning & Pre-Construction:

    • Assist Project Managers in developing project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

    • Review and interpret construction documents (drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals) to identify potential conflicts or constructability issues related to concrete.

    • Support the procurement process by reviewing vendor submittals, material requisitions, and tracking deliveries.

    • Collaborate with design teams and clients on technical clarifications and value engineering opportunities.

  • Project Execution & Management:

    • Provide technical support to field superintendents and crews, resolving on-site issues related to concrete placement, formwork, rebar, and finishes.

    • Manage and track RFI (Request for Information) and submittal processes, ensuring timely responses and approvals.

    • Oversee quality control for concrete operations, including mix design verification, slump tests, cylinder breaks, and post-placement inspections.

    • Monitor project progress against the schedule, identify potential delays, and assist in developing mitigation strategies.

    • Track and document changes in scope, prepare change order requests, and manage associated documentation.

    • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company safety policies on site.

  • Cost Control & Reporting:

    • Assist in tracking project costs, labor hours, and material quantities to ensure budget adherence.

    • Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly project reports, including progress updates, cost summaries, and potential risks.

    • Support the preparation of payment applications and invoicing.

  • Communication & Collaboration:

    • Act as a key liaison between the project team, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.

    • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all project stakeholders.

    • Participate in project meetings, contributing technical expertise and insights.

  • Closeout:

    • Assist in the preparation of project closeout documents, including as-builts, O&M manuals, and punch lists.

    • Ensure all project documentation is complete and properly archived.

 

About the Candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3-7 years of progressive experience as a Project Engineer or similar role, specifically within commercial concrete construction.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of concrete materials, mix designs, curing processes, formwork systems, rebar installation, and finishing techniques.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, specifications, and structural drawings.

  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, particularly those related to concrete.

  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, CMiC) and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.

  • Valid driver's license.
