Project Director

Our client is a leading, employee-focused heavy civil construction firm with a strong presence across the Southeast and a nationally recognized water/wastewater practice. The company specializes in the delivery of complex municipal infrastructure projects, with core expertise in:

• Water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities
• Pump stations, pipelines, and utility systems
• Alternative delivery methods including Design-Build and CMAR

As part of its continued growth across North Carolina, the company is investing in leadership talent to expand its footprint in the municipal water/wastewater market.

• Lead client engagement strategy with municipalities, utilities, and engineering partners
• Identify, pursue, and win water and wastewater treatment plant projects
• Develop and manage capture plans, pursuit strategies, and proposal efforts
• Maintain and expand relationships with:
  • Local municipalities and authorities
  • Engineering firms
• Represent the company at industry events (NUCA, AWWA, WEF, etc.)

• Provide executive oversight for:
  • Water treatment plants (WTP)
  • Wastewater treatment plants (WWTP / WRRF)
• Oversee project teams delivering via:
  • Design-Build
  • CMAR
  • Design-Bid-Build
• Ensure projects meet schedule, budget, safety, and quality targets
• Mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams

• Own P&L performance for projects and regional water/wastewater portfolio
• Participate in estimating, risk management, and contract negotiations
• Drive margin improvement and operational efficiency

• Build and lead a high-performing W/WW team in NC
• Partner with executive leadership on strategic growth initiatives
• Support recruiting efforts for key talent (PMs, Supers, BD)

• 15+ years of experience in water/wastewater construction
• Proven track record delivering:
  • Treatment plants (WTP / WWTP / WRRF)
  • Large municipal infrastructure projects
• Experience with design-build and/or CMAR delivery
• Demonstrated success in business development / winning work
• Strong relationships in the North Carolina or Southeast market
• Experience managing large-scale projects ($25M–$200M+)

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• Background with a leading GC or heavy civil contractor
• Experience working with major municipal clients in NC
• Strong network with consulting engineers and decision-makers
