General Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and passionate Commercial Electrical Construction Project Manager to join our team. As a key member of the project management team, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the installation, performance, profitability, and overall success of multiple exciting projects that will make a lasting impact on the community.

The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring all work is completed within established timelines, quality standards, and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to ensure projects are executed smoothly, profitably, and safely.

About the Role

Externally

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.

  • Represent the company in trade-related activities and committees to foster industry connections.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 5-10 years of experience in Mission Critical Project Management with an electrical contractor.

  • Proven ability to manage people, processes, and performance effectively.

  • Strong knowledge of financial software, accounting practices, and project billings.

  • Proficiency in scheduling, budget tracking, labor tracking, and project documentation.

  • Experience with estimating software is a plus; Spectrum experience is highly desirable.

  • Previous experience in the electrical field and project management leadership.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on problem-solving and team collaboration.

  • Ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities, and recall past project details.

  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.

  • Positive, “can-do” attitude with a strong sense of ownership and self-motivation.

About the Candidate

Key Responsibilities Pre-Construction
  • Plan and prepare all contract administration, executing and directing project activities, and developing or maintaining client relationships.

  • Set up the job by creating a job cost budget, Schedule of Values, re-estimates, reviewing and executing subcontracts, and purchase orders with accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).

  • Responsible for pricing and procuring subcontractor packages related to the scope of work and ensuring subcontractor capabilities align with project requirements.

  • Oversee procurement of major material packages (e.g., Switchgear, Lighting, Commodities) and ensure compliance with documents (drawings, specifications, bid packages).

  • Manage the submittal process for the scope of work and maintain quality control.

VDC/BIM
  • General oversight of VDC/BIM processes related to the project.

  • Collaborate with the Project Operations Manager and VDC/BIM Manager to create a VDC/BIM plan, including layout lead, coordination schedule, and drawing schedule.

  • Assist with BIM layout efforts and ensure constructability and content quality control.

Pre-Fabrication
  • Work with the Superintendent, Construction Resources Director, and Project Operations Manager to create and maintain a pre-fabrication plan.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for pre-fabrication throughout the project lifecycle.

Material Management / Jobsite Logistics
  • Oversee and maintain the material management and logistics plan, ensuring timely ordering, receiving, and organizing materials.

  • Ensure all materials meet project specifications and quality standards.

  • Work with internal teams and vendor partners to adjust the material management and logistics plan as needed.

Scheduling
  • Manage and maintain the project schedule, including organizing crews and manpower projections.

  • Develop field organization charts with the Superintendent and Project Operations Manager, updating the schedule and manpower projections weekly.

Subcontractor Management
  • Oversee subcontractors’ scope of work and ensure timely submission of deliverables.

  • Monitor subcontractor manpower to meet project schedules and quality requirements.

  • Manage subcontractor billing processes.

Safety
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent to develop and maintain a safety plan tailored to the project, ensuring daily reports, PPE management, and accident management processes are followed.

  • Ensure all site activities comply with both the project-specific safety plan and company standards.

Quality Control
  • Work with the Superintendent to create and implement a quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) plan for the project.

  • Ensure adherence to project specifications, code compliance, and punch list management throughout the project.

Cost/Change Management
  • Review, price, and manage all project scope changes. Ensure change order pricing meets project standards.

  • Track and follow up on open change orders, providing monthly updates on job progress, cost tracking, and manpower projections.
