About the Role
- Prepare detailed mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, piping) estimates for ground-up and complex commercial projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, narratives, and addenda to establish complete mechanical scopes
- Solicit, review, level, and negotiate subcontractor bids
- Develop conceptual, schematic, design development, and GMP estimates
- Partner with preconstruction, project management, and design teams throughout the estimating process
- Lead value engineering efforts and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
- Evaluate constructability, risk, and cost impacts early in project development
- Maintain historical cost data, benchmarking, and pricing databases
- Assist with bid strategy, presentations, and client-facing preconstruction meetings as needed
About the Candidate
- 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience within commercial construction
- Strong background estimating HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Experience on large-scale projects such as healthcare, higher education, mission-critical, industrial, or corporate facilities
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Trimble, MC2, Autobid, or similar) and takeoff tools (Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff)
- Ability to read and interpret complex construction documents
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
