About the Client

A long-established and well-resourced mechanical and electrical contractor operating across London, the East of England, and the Home Counties. With a strong reputation for delivering complex M&E projects up to £10M, they work across sectors including education, healthcare, commercial, leisure, industrial, high-end residential, and heritage. Their experienced team delivers both major new build and refurbishment projects, as well as maintenance and improvement works for long-term clients, offering tailored solutions through traditional build, design & build, or framework agreements.

About the Role

  • Conduct cost planning and provide pricing forecasts for materials and resources across the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare detailed budgets, contracts, and bills of quantities to support project delivery.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure financial targets and cost controls are achieved.
  • Oversee the cash flow of large-scale M&E packages during all phases of delivery.
  • Produce and present commercial reports, including Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), to the project leadership team.
  • Monitor financial performance, generating regular forecasts and status updates on budget and cash flow.
  • Maintain a positive cash position throughout the project and work proactively to achieve or exceed forecasted profit margins.

About the Candidate

  • Proven track record of overseeing the commercial aspects of large-scale mechanical and electrical (M&E) projects.
  • Project experience in sectors such as healthcare, laboratories, and multi-unit residential developments.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for managing budgets and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of M&E cost management and previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
  • Familiarity with NEC form of contracts and how they apply within M&E construction environments
