About the Role

Role Overview
This role is for an experienced HVAC professional ready to step up into leadership. You’ll lead by example in the field while supervising a small service team (4 technicians), supporting daily operations, and assisting with customer relationship management and sales opportunities. Over the next 1–2 years, this role is designed to evolve into a full Service Manager position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform HVAC service, troubleshooting, and maintenance on commercial and light industrial systems.
  • Supervise and support a team of 4 service technicians—providing mentoring, field guidance, and performance oversight.
  • Coordinate scheduling, dispatch, and workflow for service calls and maintenance contracts.
  • Serve as the go-to technical lead for complex diagnostics and customer escalations.
  • Assist in quoting small jobs, identifying service upsell opportunities, and generating repair proposals.
  • Collaborate with company leadership to improve operational processes and service delivery standards.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships through communication, professionalism, and timely service.
  • Help monitor KPIs, job costing, and technician productivity.
  • Act as a liaison between field technicians, office staff, and senior management.

About the Candidate

Qualifications & Skills
  • 7+ years of hands-on HVAC service experience (commercial/industrial preferred).
  • EPA Universal Certification (required); NATE certification or State HVAC license (preferred).
  • Strong technical knowledge of rooftop units, split systems, chillers, boilers, controls, and ductwork.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring other technicians (formal or informal leadership).
  • Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable with basic quoting, service sales, and customer interaction.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Tech-savvy: experience with service software, Microsoft Office, and mobile work order systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
