About the Client

HVAC Chiller Technician – Key Responsibilities (Orlando, FL)

Chiller System Maintenance & Repair:

  • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, including screw, scroll, and centrifugal systems (e.g., Trane, York, Carrier, Daikin).

  • Troubleshoot and repair refrigerant circuits, compressors, heat exchangers, pumps, and associated controls.

  • Monitor and adjust system pressures, temperatures, and flow rates to ensure optimal performance.

System Start-Up & Commissioning:

  • Conduct start-up, testing, and commissioning of newly installed chiller systems for commercial and industrial clients.

  • Verify system performance against design specifications and manufacturer requirements.

Controls & Automation:

  • Interface with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and digital controllers for diagnostics, calibration, and system optimization.

  • Program, adjust, and troubleshoot control panels, sensors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).

Refrigerant Handling & Compliance:

  • Recover, recharge, and leak-test refrigerants per EPA 608 regulations.

  • Maintain accurate service records, including refrigerant logs and pressure readings.

About the Role

Travel & Field Work:

  • Perform service work across the Orlando metro area, including hospitals, hotels, universities, office buildings, and industrial facilities.

  • Respond to emergency calls and participate in rotating on-call service schedule as required.

About the Candidate

Customer Interaction & Documentation:
  • Communicate with building engineers, facilities managers, and contractors to report system status and recommend solutions.

  • Prepare detailed service reports, inspection checklists, and time/material logs for each service call.

Safety & Code Compliance:
  • Follow all safety procedures in accordance with OSHA standards and company policies.

  • Ensure work complies with local Florida building codes , manufacturer guidelines, and industry best practices.
