About the Client

Our client is a leading mechanical services contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering complex HVAC, building automation, energy, and facility solutions across healthcare, commercial, educational, industrial, and mission-critical environments. The organization is recognized for its commitment to service excellence, technical innovation, and long-term client partnerships. With a strong presence throughout Florida, they provide comprehensive solutions including preventative maintenance, retrofit projects, energy efficiency upgrades, controls integration, and capital improvement programs.

The company continues to experience significant growth and is seeking high-performing professionals who can help expand existing customer relationships while identifying new business opportunities throughout the region.

About the Role

The HVAC BIM Designer will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining detailed 3D models and construction drawings for mechanical systems on complex construction projects. Working closely with project managers, engineers, field teams, and trade partners, the BIM Designer will help ensure that HVAC systems are accurately modeled, coordinated, and prepared for successful installation.

This position plays a critical role in identifying and resolving conflicts before construction begins, improving project efficiency, reducing field rework, and supporting successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed BIM models for HVAC ductwork, piping systems, equipment, and supporting components.
  • Create coordinated construction drawings, shop drawings, installation layouts, and fabrication-ready deliverables.
  • Participate in clash detection and coordination meetings with internal project teams and external trade partners.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and engineering documents to ensure model accuracy and compliance.
  • Support project teams by identifying constructability challenges and proposing practical solutions.
  • Collaborate with field operations personnel to incorporate real-world installation requirements into project models.
  • Generate spool drawings, hanger layouts, equipment placement drawings, and coordination documentation as required.
  • Assist with prefabrication and modular construction initiatives through detailed model development.
  • Maintain project documentation and model revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure deliverables meet project schedules, BIM standards, and quality expectations.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented BIM professional with experience developing and coordinating HVAC and mechanical system models for commercial, industrial, healthcare, institutional, or mission-critical construction projects. They possess a strong understanding of construction workflows, mechanical systems, and virtual design technologies, allowing them to bridge the gap between design intent and field execution.

Successful candidates typically possess:

  • 2+ years of experience in BIM modeling, mechanical design, VDC, or MEP coordination.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD MEP, and related BIM technologies.
  • Experience developing detailed HVAC, ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts.
  • Understanding of mechanical construction methods, installation practices, and constructability principles.
  • Experience participating in clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination efforts.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Strong spatial visualization and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities when working with project teams and trade partners.
  • A willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute within a fast-paced project environment.
