Flat Roofing Estimator/Contract Manager

Estimating:

• Reviewing and analyzing project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine accurate project requirements.
• Preparing detailed and competitive cost estimates for flat roofing projects, including materials, labor, plant, and subcontractors.
• Obtaining and evaluating quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Identifying and assessing potential risks and opportunities associated with projects.
• Preparing and submitting tenders and proposals.
• Maintaining accurate records of estimates and project costs.

• Managing flat roofing projects from the initial stages through to final completion.
• Developing and maintaining project programs and schedules.
• Overseeing and coordinating site activities, including managing site personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Ensuring projects are delivered to the specified quality standards and in compliance with relevant building regulations and health and safety legislation.
• Monitoring project progress, identifying and resolving any issues or delays.
• Managing project budgets, controlling costs, and maximizing profitability.
• Preparing and submitting valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
• Liaising effectively with clients, architects, surveyors, and other stakeholders.
• Negotiating and agreeing on contract variations.
• Ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and maintained.
• Preparing RAMS.

• Proven experience as an Estimator and Contracts Manager, with a strong focus on flat roofing systems (e.g., single ply, felt, liquid applied).
• In-depth knowledge of flat roofing materials, techniques, and best practices.
• Excellent numeracy, literacy, and IT skills, including proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of building regulations, health and safety legislation (including CDM Regulations), and contract law.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and other project documentation.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid UK driving license.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ, HNC/HND, Degree) in a construction-related discipline are desirable.
• CSCS card and SMSTS certification are desirable.
