About the Role

Core Responsibilities

The primary goal of this role is to translate a building's architectural plans into a fully functional, code-compliant fire alarm system.

  • CAD Drafting & Modeling: Developing high-quality 2D shop drawings (AutoCAD) or 3D models (Revit) that show the precise location of smoke detectors, strobes, pull stations, and control panels.

  • Engineering Calculations: Performing critical technical calculations, including Battery Calculations(to ensure the system can run during power outages) and Voltage Drop Calculations(to ensure devices at the end of long wire runs still receive enough power).

  • Code Compliance: Ensuring every design adheres to the NFPA 72(National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) and NFPA 70(National Electrical Code), as well as local building codes.

  • Submittal Packages: Preparing the documentation required for "Authority Having Jurisdiction" (AHJ) approval, including riser diagrams, sequence of operations, and equipment data sheets.

  • Project Collaboration: Coordinating with architects, electrical engineers, and field technicians to resolve "clashes" where fire equipment might interfere with HVAC or plumbing.
