About the Role
Surveying and Layout:
-
Researching existing survey data, maps, and construction documents for layout information.
-
Determining methods for establishing and re-establishing survey control.
-
Operating and understanding total stations, robotic total stations, laser scanners, data collectors, and leveling lasers, including associated software.
-
Creating and applying control point files from design documentation, and using provided control point files for layout.
-
Providing control lines and laying out all structural and site elements (e.g., edge forms, columns, walls, footings, utilities, sidewalks).
-
Establishing and verifying elevation benchmarks on all relevant surfaces (decks, forms, slabs, site work).
-
Checking the plumbness of vertical elements before and after concrete placement.
-
Verifying deck and top of slab elevations before and after concrete placement.
-
Maintaining accurate notes, records, sketches, and as-builts for embedded items and elevated slabs.
Documentation and Communication:
-
Contributing to Daily Logs via direct entry into Procore.
-
Utilizing Procore modules (Documents, Tasks, Submittals, RFIs, Inspections, Observations, Punch List, Meetings, Schedule, Daily Log, Photos, Drawings, & Specifications) for project information, communication, and documentation.
-
Identifying discrepancies in architectural, structural, civil, and shop drawings, and developing clear RFIs with sketches and photos, submitted via Procore.

Continuously verifying CAD files on the data collector/RTS against the latest drawing revisions.
-
Coordinating findings with engineering and architectural personnel and clients.
-
Collaborating with teams generating shop drawings and BIM models to ensure design intent and accuracy.
-
Communicating site problems, plan conflicts, and quality issues immediately to project management and supervisors.
Equipment and Maintenance:
-
Providing own transportation, if assigned.
-
Keeping all necessary tools on person for the job.
-
Maintaining equipment and tools for longevity and ensuring their safe use and safekeeping (stored inside under lock and key, not in vehicles).
-
Performing self-calibration of assigned equipment every 45 days.
-
Ensuring equipment is clean and dry before storing in carrying cases during inclement weather.
-
Setting up the RTS in a safe location, as far from the work area as functionally possible.
Collaboration, Problem Solving, and Safety:
-
Assisting other crews when job functions permit.
-
Training and mentoring Field Engineers in Training on concrete construction and developing a solid mentoring system.
-
Conferring with supervisory personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction problems and improve methods.
-
Working closely with management to plan and execute projects, prioritizing safety.
-
Proactively identifying and resolving field construction problems.
-
Taking personal responsibility for own safety and the safety of all co-workers.
-
Authorized and obligated to stop work for unsafe conditions or situations.
-
Promptly reporting violations of laws, regulations, or company policies.
-
Performing additional administrative and technical duties as assigned by supervision.
About the Candidate
Candidates for this position should possess a minimum of 3 years of construction project experience in a field supervisory capacity, with at least 1 year of direct surveying experience . Prior hands-on experience in the concrete construction industry is preferred.
Key qualifications include:

Proficiency in basic algebra, geometry, and construction math concepts.

Ability to read and interpret construction documents.

Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.

Experience with Procore software is preferred, with a requirement for intensive, daily use within 3 months of hire/promotion.

Proficient knowledge of equipment-related software (e.g., Magnet Field, Trimble Access).

General knowledge of AutoCAD (Revit preferred).

Excellent customer service and organizational skills.

Ability to quickly learn technical aspects of the business and role.
