Facades Designer

About the Role

The Oak Facades division specialises in the design, supply, and installation of façade systems — including glazing, curtain walling, rain-screen cladding, composite, and steel-frame systems. The division delivers new-build façades, retrofit upgrades, cladding remediation, and fire protection solutions on complex UK projects.

Role Overview

As a Façade Designer, you will lead the technical and design activities for high-profile façade projects, working within a growing specialist team. You will coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to produce compliant, buildable designs that align with contract specifications, regulatory standards, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end design process (from early concept to construction-ready output), ensuring commercial, contractual, and time requirements are met.

• Develop and produce detailed 2D drawings, Revit models, fabrication schematics, and procurement schedules.

• Prepare technical submittals, review engineering calculations, and ensure compliance with specifications and statutory requirements.

• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and third-party engineers to resolve design issues and submit approved drawings.

• Monitor and document design changes or variations through the project lifecycle.

• Ensure compliance with CWCT, Building Regulations, British Standards and other industry standards.

• Liaise with the commercial team on design-related variations and cost implications.

Skills & Experience

• Degree or diploma in Architectural Technology, Civil/Structural Engineering, Building Design or a related discipline.

• Proven experience with systems such as: curtain walling, glazing, rainscreen cladding, composite and steel-frame systems, window/door assemblies, cavity fire barriers, flashings, AOVs, and louvre systems.

• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD; experience producing linked models and deriving working drawings.

• Strong knowledge of building façade performance standards (e.g. CWCT), building regulations, and materials (steel, aluminium, glass).

• Excellent verbal and written communication; effective stakeholder management (clients, manufacturers, engineers).

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

• Positive, solution-driven attitude with a commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable designs.

• UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
