Our client is a leading commercial general contractor providing comprehensive construction-related services. They place particular emphasis on long-term relationships with clients, employees and vendors. Located in Raleigh, NC, They are licensed in an eleven-state area along the eastern seaboard.
About the Role
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bid proposals for commercial construction projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure competitive and complete project bids
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, architects, engineers, and clients throughout the preconstruction process
- Review project plans and specifications to identify scope requirements, potential risks, and value engineering opportunities
- Assist in developing project schedules and preliminary construction logistics plans
- Maintain and update historical cost databases and estimating records
- Participate in bid reviews, project handoffs, and client meetings as needed
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project goals and budget expectations are met
- Support continuous improvement of estimating procedures and preconstruction processes
About the Candidate
- 5+ years of commercial construction estimating experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and building systems
- Experience estimating retail, hospitality, automotive dealerships, and other commercial projects
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and estimating software
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Detail-oriented with strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- Willingness to travel occasionally as needed for project walkthroughs or client meetings
