About the Role

Millwork Engineer / CAD Draftsman

Location: Caldwell, NJ
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Work Arrangement: On-site
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience

 

We are seeking an experienced Millwork Engineer / CAD Draftsman to join the team in Caldwell, NJ.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly proficient AutoCAD professional with an interest or background in woodworking, cabinetry, carpentry, or architectural millwork.

The successful candidate will produce and review detailed shop drawings for architectural woodworking projects while also supporting CNC programming and manufacturing. Strong AutoCAD experience is essential; CNC programming experience is beneficial but can be trained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and review detailed AutoCAD shop drawings for architectural woodworking and millwork projects.
  • Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Produce accurate drawings and documentation for manufacturing and installation.
  • Prepare CNC machine programs using CAD/CAM software.
  • Work with software such as WoodWOP, WoodCAD|CAM, and CutRite.
  • Coordinate with the production team to ensure drawings and programs are accurate and manufacturable.
  • Identify and resolve design, drafting, and production issues.
  • Ensure drawings meet project specifications, quality standards, and production requirements.
  • Manage assigned tasks independently while maintaining deadlines and accuracy.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, production, project management, and installation teams.

About the Candidate

  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Experience producing detailed shop drawings in a professional environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings.
  • Experience with woodworking, cabinetry, carpentry, architectural millwork, or commercial interiors is highly preferred.
  • Experience with WoodCAD|CAM, Microvellum, iX, or similar software is beneficial.
  • CNC programming experience is a plus, although training can be provided.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently without requiring constant supervision.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Team-oriented and willing to learn.
