About the Role

Position Overview

The Assistant Plant Manager supports the overall operation of a manufacturing facility by helping lead daily production, workforce management, safety, and compliance efforts. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient plant performance, supporting operational goals, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The position also serves as a critical link between leadership and production teams, helping ensure alignment, communication, and execution across the facility.


Key Responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing daily plant operations to ensure safety, compliance, and production efficiency
• Serve as a liaison between leadership and production teams to align on priorities, goals, and performance expectations
• Support production scheduling to meet output targets while maintaining quality and minimizing downtime
• Supervise and support team leads and operators, providing coaching and performance guidance
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in accordance with company policies and safety standards
• Track key performance metrics, support root cause analysis, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with maintenance and quality teams to ensure equipment reliability and product standards are met
• Support onboarding, cross-training, and development of team members to promote a high-performing, safety-focused culture
• Participate in safety meetings, audits, and compliance activities, ensuring proper documentation and reporting
• Step in to support leadership responsibilities as needed and assist with internal and external communications.

About the Candidate

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, manufacturing, or a related technical discipline preferred

• 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or lead role within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment

• Experience working with gases, fluids, or regulated materials is highly desirable

• Lean or continuous improvement certification required; advanced certification (e.g., Green Belt or higher) preferred

• Strong understanding of workplace safety standards, quality control processes, and regulatory requirements

• Proven ability to lead teams, troubleshoot issues, and execute operational plans with minimal oversight

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with ERP or similar operational systems

• Ability to work in a hands-on environment involving equipment, machinery, and physical demands

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Flexible, team-oriented mindset with willingness to adapt in a fast-paced operational setting
